National Highway[s] Passing through Manipur

  • National Highway 150 (NH 150) links Seling in Mizoram with Kohima, Nagaland, passing through Manipur. Its total length is of 700 km. The Manipur section of NH 150 is known as Tipaimukh Road. Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, GoI declared the road as National Highway 150 on 6.1.1999. Important points till Manipur: Seling, Khawlailung, Parbung. Phaiphengmun, E.Phaileng, Darlawn, Raru, N.Vanlaiphai, Darlawn, N.Vervek, Tipaimukh, Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Imphal, Ukhrul, Kuiri, Jessami
  • National Highway 53 (NH 53) connects Badarpur, Assam with Imphal, Manipur, starting from the junction of NH 44 at Badarpur. It has a distance of 320 km [100 km is in Assam and 220 km is in Manipur]. Main points: Silchar, Banskandi, Lakhipur, Jiribam, Nungba, Tamenglong District.

  • National Highway 39 (NH 39) covers a distance of 436 km [115 km in Assam, 100 km in Nagaland,  and 211 km in Manipur]. It starts from Numaligarh, Assam and ends at Indo-Myanmar Border. Main Points:  Golaghat, Garampani, Barpathar, Naojan, Bakojan, Dimapur, Kohima, Tadubi, Senapati, Kangpokpi, Imphal, Thoubal, Palel, Tengnoupal.
  • The Trans-Asian Highway will make possible of driving down to Bangkok from Manipur by 2017, with Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Myanmar on opening four-lane motorways to promote trade and tourism from the NE States into Myanmar, and on to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. The new superhighway is part of the “Mekong-India Corridor”, linking Indian markets with China, and thus opening up new oil and gas opportunities off the coasts of Myanmar and Vietnam, and enabling easier access to Japanese products made in Thailand.
